Houses have been flooded after a freak rainstorm hit Canterbury this afternoon.

Parts of the city were pounded by a torrential downfall which saw water pour into peoples' houses.

Some witnesses have described the water levels as being "knee deep", with desperate homeowners using buckets to limit any damage.

Houses have been flooded in The Hoystings Close, Canterbury

The Hoystings Close, off Old Dover Road, was among the worst hit, with at least one family saying their kitchen and front room were submerged by the flash floods.

Meanwhile, in Mereworth, there is flood water running down the hill near the roundabout for Tonbridge and Paddock Wood.
