The 'Governess' from ITV's The Chase and I'm a Celebrity jungle star Ann Hegerty is heading for a guest appearance at a Canterbury nightspot.

Fresh from playing Queen Rat in Panto at the Theatre Royal, Windsor, she is now to appear at The Venue at the University of Kent on Saturday, January 19.

She has been booked by Student Republic to launch its new Saturday night entertainment programme, and marketing manager George Bartlett says her name was one of the top voted by a panel of students.

"We weren't sure if we could get her because she doesn't usually do this sort of thing but we contacted her agent and she was up for it," he said.

"She was just someone a little bit different from the usual celebrities and reality television stars and has quite a fanbase with students, who love The Chase and her wit.

"There will be a meet and greet and she will also chat and answer questions. But we are also hoping to set up some kind of Chase-type game for a bit of fun."

The Venue is open to all students in Canterbury, and tickets, which cost £6, are only available on the door, but George believes the venue could sell out its maximum 1,200 capacity.

Fellow contestant and I'm a Celebrity winner Harry Redknapp will also be visiting Kent at two venues this year.
