Man found in Canterbury Academy school field with serious head injuries

A seriously injured man has been found lying unconscious in a school field.

Police were called to the scene at Canterbury Academy, near Knight Avenue, at 4.15am yesterday.

They discovered a man in his 40s who had sustained a serious head injury.

Paramedics rushed to the scene and the victim was taken to a local hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are now investigating what happened.

Three men, who are understood to know the victim, have been arrested on suspicion of assault.

They remain in police custody.

As part of their investigation, officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed a disturbance in Union Street, Canterbury, on Monday evening.
