Traffic builds up in Porters Lane, Sheldwich

A jackknifed lorry is causing severe delays between Ashford and Faversham this morning.

The HGV collided with a car near North Street in Sheldwich at 7.20am, before turning and blocking the road.

The driver of the car was treated for minor injuries.

The busy A251 was closed in both directions between junction 6 of the M2 at Faversham and the junction with Newhouse Lane in Sheldwich.

Traffic was diverted down the narrow Porters Lane, forcing cars to reverse down it to avoid the gridlock.

The London-bound slip road of the M2 at junction 6 has also been closed to stop traffic going into the area.
