Meanwhile, Canterbury under-18 girls progressed to the national stage of the indoor hockey competition by finishing runners-up in the East Regional tournament in Colchester.

Canterbury played Chelmsford in the first game and drew 3-3 with Lucy Hyams (2) and Eliza Brett scoring.

They then beat Saffron Walden 7-2 with goals from Zoe Shephard (2), Brett (2), Hyams, Kirsty Greaves, and Lucy Turner.

Sudbury were beaten 9-1 with goals from Hyams (5), Rebecca Weston, Dom Masters, Brett and Turner.

The final game was a difficult match as opponents Harleston had already qualified and Canterbury knew they were through as long as they did not lose by more than eight goals. Canterbury lost 5-1 with the goal coming from Hyams.
