Three people have been treated for breathing in smoke after two separate kitchen fires in Kent.

A man and woman in their 70s were treated by paramedics after a fire broke out in a property on St Mary's Street in Canterbury.

Crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at about 4.30pm yesterday.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the heavily smoke-logged property.
