A 33-year-old man accused of murder following a stabbing in Canterbury made a brief appearance before a judge at Maidstone Crown Court today.

Christopher Douglas-Seath, of North Holmes Road, Canterbury, is alleged to have killed 24-year-old Jemma Loder on December 18. She died from knife wounds in the Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

Douglas-Seath, a computer technician, is also accused of attempting to murder Sebastian Lee, 24, and 25-year-old Christopher Wintle.

Douglas-Seath appeared in court via a TV link with Elmley Prison, Sheppey. He spoke only to confirm his name and that he had been following the proceedings. He will return to court on March 9 when he is expected to enter pleas to the charges.

Judge Andrew Patience, QC, remanded Douglas-Seath in custody. No bail application was made.

Miss Loder, who worked with people with learning difficulties for the MCCH Society, lived with her parents Bob and Jan Loder in Priest Avenue, Canterbury. She was a former Canterbury High School pupil and was well known locally as an amateur DJ.

Mr Wintle and Mr Lee also suffered stab wounds after an incident at a flat above Goodfellas hair salon in Northgate. They were detained in hospital but have now been discharged.
