Canterbury train delays at Canterbury East as lorry smashed into railway bridge

A lorry carrying heavy machinery has smashed into a railway bridge causing delays for train passengers.

The accident happened in Wincheap with the lorry hitting the Canterbury East railway bridge.

South Eastern Railway has notified passengers to say trains are delayed.

A spokesperson said: "We are waiting for Network Rail to get to the station. We think there will be around a 35 minute wait.

"Passengers should keep checking our Twitter account and website for information."
