A major route has been partially blocked after a car mounted a verge on the side of the road.

The A28 Ashford Road is partially blocked in both directions due to the incident.

An eyewitness reported seeing a silver Ford Focus surrounded by police cars just after 7pm.

Pictures show the Ford, with a severely dented roof and doors, mounting a green verge, and police cars next to it.

It is not known if anyone has been injured in the crash.

Police and the ambulance service have been contacted for more information.
