Coronavirus Kent: Man charged with three counts of assault in St George's Lane, Canterbury, including coughing at police officer

A man has appeared in court accused of coughing at a police officer and repeatedly saying he had coronavirus symptoms.

David Jones, 31, allegedly kicked two others officers during the disturbance in St George's Lane, Canterbury, at about 11.30am on Tuesday.

He has since been charged with three counts of assaulting an emergency worker and a public order offence.

Jones, of no fixed abode, appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody to appear again on May 1.
