Police have today confirmed his identity as David Creed, of Long Acre Close.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have now charged him with murder.

Mr Creed appeared at Folkestone Magistrates' Court on Thursday, and was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday.

Residents told KentOnline they could hear detectives banging on the door of the property on Tuesday, before a man was handcuffed.

Neighbour Evelyn Iglesias, who has lived in the area for 35 years, said: “My granddaughter heard a commotion saw an ambulance and three police cars pull up very quickly.

“Then she heard banging on the door and a policeman saying ‘Are you all right?’.

“We saw police arresting a man, they handcuffed him, searched him and put him into a van.”

Police officers were still at the scene several hours later, with forensics specialists seen going in and out of the flat.

“We all feared the worst and that something had happened to the woman,” Ms Iglesias added.
