Man charged with rape after serious sex assault reported in Canterbury car park

A London man has been charged with rape following a report of a serious sex assault in Canterbury earlier this month.

A 19-year-old woman reported she was the victim of a serious sexual assault in a car park off Link Lane in the early hours of October 6.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on the morning of October 20.

The alleyway off Link Lane was sealed off by police following the allegation

Mahamud Abdi Ali, of Swains Road in Tooting, South London, was today charged with rape.

He will appear at Medway Magistrates Court via video link for a remand hearing tomorrow morning.
