Man airlifted to London hospital with head injuries after falling from a wall in Canterbury city centre

A man was airlifted to hospital with head injuries last night after he fell from a wall in Canterbury city centre.

Police and ambulance were called to Canterbury Lane after the 61-year-old fell just before 10pm.

The Kent Air Ambulance was also called to the scene landing in a field in Knights Avenue before flying the man to a London hospital for assessment.

Police were unable to describe the man's condition.

A police cordon was in place in Canterbury Lane for almost four hours while investigators combed the area.

KM reporter Alex Claridge was walking home at the time of the incident.

He said: "There seemed to be a lot of police milling about with two cars and six officers and there was a pool of blood on the floor."

Police cleared the scene at 1.40am.
