A man was taken to hospital after an alleged assault in a city park.

Police were called to reports of an assault in the Westgate Gardens in Canterbury at around 6.20pm yesterday.

Officers and paramedics rushed to the scene, where they found a man in his 50s with head injuries.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police say enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
