Television presenter and former greengrocer Gregg Wallace was in Whitstable last week to lend his support to an exhibition at the town’s museum.

It celebrates the little shops of Whitstable and the Masterchef presenter is also appearing in a new BBC series about traditional shops, Turn Back Time - The High Street.

The museum’s exhibition is called Turn Back Time - Whitstable Shops and from Saturday, November 27, between 10am-12.30pm, it hosts a special day tying in with the exhibition. Visitors will be able to discover what Whitstable shops were like in the past, see historic photos and shop items from the town.

The event also includes a fun play shop and creative activities for children.

While at the museum, Mr Wallace chatted to staff and had a look at the exhibition. He was presented with a copy of the book Shop Talk which was produced three years’ ago by the community memories group Telling Whitstable’s Story.

Mr Wallace said he wanted to urge people to come to the museum on Saturday and share their memories, enjoy the photos and objects, add to the shop-front collage, or have fun in the play shop.
