A new pedestrian bridge across the A2 will dramatically begin to take shape over the next two weekends.

Highways Agency engineers will work overnight to install the main sections of the bridge at Kingston, between Black Robin Lane and Out Elmstead Lane.

Construction began last November and the bridge is expected to be fully completed by March.

The A2 will be closed in both directions overnight between the junction with Coldharbour Lane and the A260 Canterbury Road, to allow the work to take place. Closures will take place between 8pm on Saturday, January 16 and 23, until 6am on the Sunday morning.

Local diversions will be in place with main traffic diverted onto the A299 and A256, with HGVs and out of country traffic being sign posted to Dover via the M20 and A20.
