Sturry Hill near Broad Oak, Canterbury, closed after a car crashes into tree, injuring a pensioner

A 72-year-woman was taken to hospital on Sunday afternoon after the car she was travelling in crashed into a tree.

The accident happened at the top of Sturry Hill near the junction with Sweethgate shortly after 3pm.

Police closed the road while paramedics treated the pensioner who suffered neck and chest pain and was taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford. Her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The driver of the Seat Ibiza was not thought to be hurt.
