Person hit by train in Canterbury, sparking delays between Ashford and Ramsgate

A person has died after being hit by a train near a level crossing in Canterbury.

Emergency services have descended on the scene at Whitehall crossing as trains between Ashford and Ramsgate are delayed.

Officers arrived with paramedics at about 12.50pm when a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services are on site

The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Officers are working to identify the person and inform their family.

Services via Canterbury West are expected to be disrupted until 2.45pm.
