A 22-year-old man has been charged with a series of sex offences. Paul Spencely, a railway employee, appeared before magistrates at Canterbury.

Spencely, a married man with a baby, of Whitstable Road, Faversham, was arrested following police inquiries into incidents in the Black Griffin Lane area of Canterbury.

Spencely is charged with three indecent assaults on women, one on a man and two offences of voyeurism, which is a new crime under the Sexual Offences Act. The incidents all date between January 2004 and January 2005.

They include allegations of indecent assaults on a man and woman at the same property in St Peter's Grove on January 26, 2004.

He is also accused of indecently assaulting two women and burglary at a property in Black Griffin Lane on March 17, 2004.

Spencely, who is a former pupil of the Queen Elizabeth School at Faversham did not enter a plea to the charges.

He was remanded in custody until next Monday when he is due to appear at Canterbury Crown Court.
