Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, to christen Prince George at St James's Palace

The Archbishop of Canterbury will christen Prince George next month, it has been announced today.

The Most Reverend Justin Welby will perform the ceremony on Wednesday, October 23.

Kensington Palace said Prince George will be christened in the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace.

Prince George, who is third in line to the throne, was born at St Mary's Hospital in London on July 22.

Just days after the birth, his grandparents Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall visited Kent.

The royal pair joined in the fun at the Whitstable Oyster Festival and visited Chatham Historic Dockyard.
