A serious crash in Canterbury sparked a large emergency response and long tailbacks.

Rush-hour traffic backed up on the A28 Sturry Road following the accident shortly after 4.30pm.

It is thought a car and motorbike collided in Mill Road, near the Stour Retail Park and someone has been taken to hospital.

The road was closed between Vauxhall Road and Fordwich Road while police and paramedics dealt with incident.

It was re-opened at shortly after 6pm.
