Poundland in Canterbury: Staff and security attacked during busy Saturday

A group of suspected shoplifters have attacked staff and security at a branch of Poundland after being approached as they left the store.

Security staff at the Canterbury store made attempts to stop one man who lashed out and assaulted the guard and other members of staff.

The incident unfolded in the busy store on Saturday afternoon.

And it comes less than two weeks after a similar incident.

Police officers attended the store and it’s understood four people were detained.

Witnesses say one of the men may have been armed.

The guard is not thought to be seriously hurt.

Police say an investigation has been launched.
