A 21-year-old university student was found dead in her room by her landlord showing a prospective tenant around the property, an inquest has been told.

Gaelle Wauquier, 21, was discovered slumped on the floor of her digs in Sussex Avenue, Canterbury.

A post mortem later revealed she had suffered a sudden, unexpected cardiac death.

Miss Wauquier, who was French, had just gained an English degree from Kent University and had been due to return to France the day after her death.

Coroner Rebecca Cobb heard that specialist tests were carried out on her heart after a pathologist was told how she had previously suffered fainting and doctors had discovered her heart beat was arrhythmic.

Pathologist Miklos Perenyei said the test revealed valve prolapse which could have caused the arrythmia and the occasions when Miss Wauquier felt faint.

One of her housemates, Paul O’Connor gave a statement saying that on the morning her body was found on June 21, he had called out 'good morning’ to her when he saw her sat on her bed with her laptop and she had replied.

But later in the day when the landlord knocked and got no reply, he used a master key to open the door to show the room to a prospective tenant.

After seeing somebody slumped on the floor, he closed the door.

The coroner recorded that her death had been from natural causes.
