Westgate Towers sexual assault probe sees second 18-year-old arrested in Canterbury

A second 18-year-old has been arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault near an alleyway in Canterbury city centre.

Two men were spotted trying to lure a woman against her will into the alley near Westgate Towers at 11pm on July 9.

The attack happened near the Westgate Towers in Canterbury

Members of the public intervened and came to the assistance of the woman, said police.

An 18-year-old man from the city was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault shortly afterwards and has been released on police bail while inquiries continue.

On Thursday, a second man, also 18, was detained. He has also been released on bail.
