A SUSPECTED war time bomb unearthed by archaeologists caused chaos when one of the busiest parts of Canterbury had to be evacuated on Friday afternoon.

But bomb disposal experts who examined the metal object called off the emergency when they discovered it was nothing more sinister than a rusty old pot.

It was found about 2ft beneath the ground on the former multi-storey car park site in Whitefriars.
