South East Water has received 81 complaints from residents of Broad Oak, Fordwich and parts of Calcott, Hoath and Maypole experiencing low pressure or no water.

An increase in bursts in the Canterbury area has been caused by the lack of rainfall and drying of the soil, the utility company explained.

Regional network manager Andy Beston said: “Our team of expert technicians are on site to begin repairs, and will re-route water around our extensive network of pipes so that the vast majority of customers have tap water supplies again."

South East Water says hundreds of customers have been affected by the outage.

Traffic delays are expected in the area as a road closure is currently in place near the Vauxhall Road junction due to the incident.
