Two teenagers were rescued by a parent in Whitstable last night after they swam into difficulty near a sailing club.

Whitstable Lifeboat and Herne Bay Coastguard launched at just before 7pm after reports a 14-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy were in trouble off Tankerton Bay Sailing Club.

When emergency crews reached the area the teenagers were safely ashore after they were rescued by the parent.
