Exotic dancers want their own reality TV show

Exotic dancers from Canterbury club The Bing are making a reality TV show about their lives.

The show will focus on their everyday lives outside of stripping and dancing and will be produced in the style of ITV’s The Only Way Is Essex.

Big brother contestant Biannca Lake, herself an exotic dancer, approached Bing bosses with the idea for the show.

Bing manager Alistair Noel said: “Biannca was great in Big Brother and when we heard her idea for the show we put our heads together and the show was born. We know it will make for an exciting and controversial reality TV show.

“We wanted to portray the performers in a more positive light than the usual programmes you see on TV so that people can see that the girls who work as exotic dancers lead regular lives and love what they do.”

The Bing, which is in Dover Street behind the cinema, opened in 2014.

It operates as a late night bar with pole dancing and private dancing. Both are featured in the pilot.

The Bing hopes to be able to screen the pilot in the coming weeks and is in talks with TV stations over producing a series of shows.

Mr Noel said: “We are just finishing the pilot and will then be presenting it to various TV channels with the hope of them picking it up.

“I can’t say too much more on that side at the moment, but we think the show will be popular with both men and women.

“For men, obviously they’re going to be watching a show about strippers.

“But for women, we think it’ll be interesting because it shows the aspects of their lives away from work, but it also shows how much money there is in it.

“We think it’s a lot of fun and are looking forward to showing the preview at the club soon.”

In February, city council planners approved a planning application to demolish The Bing and convert it into 20 flats designed by award-winning architect Guy Hollaway.

If the conversion goes ahead, The Bing will relocate to other premises in city.

“I’m afraid things are still up in the air about the potential redevelopment and move,” Mr Noel added.
