Building in Stone Street, Stelling Minnis, was targeted by thieves for its Kent Peg tiles

Thieves clambered on to the roof of a property in Stelling Minnis to steal tiles worth £24,000.

They took around half the tiles off the Stone Street building between 3pm on Friday, December 3 and 3pm on Monday, December 7.

The distinctive red Kent Peg tiles cover thousands of buildings in east Kent and police are urging anyone offered any for sale to come forward.

Kent Peg Tiles worth £24,000 have been stolen from Stelling Minnis.

Sgt Jason Atkinson said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the theft in progress or anyone who has been offered roof tiles for sale.

“If anyone has any information that may help our officers with their enquiries, please contact us.”
