Officers have advised anyone with a lead roof to move butts, bins and furniture so access to the roof is difficult, store ladders and tools securely, keep hedges and trees pruned, check the roof regularly and consider installing security lighting and CCTV.

They also say you can coat the roof tiles in anti-climb paint, coat in silver paint which devalues it or buy coloured led so the flashing blends in with the rest of the building and is harder to spot.
