Three charged after huge police operation in Hersden, near Canterbury

A teenager and two men have been charged after a police helicopter search.

The large police operation on Saturday evening came after a business in Hersden, outside Canterbury, reported several thousand pounds worth of damage to its premises.

Officers were called to the business near Island Road shortly after 10pm.

A large-scale search was launched and - with the help of a police helicopter and Police Dog Yoofoo - three men were located and arrested following a search of the marshland nearby.

Copper piping was also seized.

Costel Coscodaru, 25, Marih Gigel Ilihca, 39, and Mihai Florin, 18, all of no fixed address, were charged with burglary.

The trio appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court yesterday, where they were remanded in custody until their next court appearance on March 7.
