Man arrested in Canterbury on suspicion of vehicle theft after police search near St Martin's Hospital

A man has been arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft following an early morning search by police in a residential area.

Officers on patrol in Canterbury stopped a car in Suffolk Road, near St Martin's Hospital, shortly after 1.30am today.

It is then believed the vehicle's three occupants left the scene.

This led to police carrying out a search of the area, which included nearby Spring Lane.

A 20-year-old man from east London was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and remains in custody while inquiries continue.
