Violent girl's bid to snatch mobile phone

POLICE are searching for a teenage girl who attacked a woman in the street and tried to steal her mobile phone.

The attempted robbery happened as the woman was walking home along Sturry Road, Canterbury, late at night.

The woman was using her telephone when she was approached by the girl who was accompanied by two men.

The girl, aged about 17, demanded the phone, punching the victim and pushing her against some metal railings. The offender is described as wearing a jumper and having very long, curly hair.

One of the men with the offender was described as young and bald, the other older and tanned.

The incident occurred at around 11.30pm on Sunday, August 14. Anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to contact Det Con Elaine Pike at Canterbury CID on 01227 762055
