A spate of vandalism which has led to six front garden walls being knocked down has angered residents on a housing estate.

A row of homes in Old Park Avenue, Canterbury, were attacked on Sunday night leaving bricks scattered across the pavement and front lawns.

It is the second time the walls have been damaged recently and police are investigating. But most of the victims did not want their names reported for fear of reprisals.

A pensioner who has lived in the street for more than 50 years said: “It used to be a lovely place but now you’ve got all sorts here.

“I have had my doorbell ripped off and now this. I don’t need this sort of worry at my age.”

Another resident said: “It makes you very angry because there is a lot of mess to clear up. Then you wonder if its worth getting the wall rebuilt if the same thing is going to happen again.”

A student tenant of one of the properties affected, Jose Reyes, said: “I can’t understand why people do this sort of thing, it’s just pointless.”
