City's players and management celebrate their Les Leckie Cup final win

Canterbury City hit back from being 2-0 down at half-time to defeat the University of Kent 3-2 in the Les Leckie Cup final at Salters Lane.

After a tight opening half hour, the University enjoyed their best spell of the game in the run-up to half-time and were rewarded with goals by Drew Walsh and David Stubbs.

City needed an early goal in the second half and it came when Scott Lawford crossed for Dave Read to fire home.

City keeper Danny Wrench then pulled off two good saves before a move involving most of the team gave City their equaliser, with Wayne Fittall converting a Lawford cross.

Both sides then had chances before Wrench pulled off a brilliant one-handed stop, and then soon after Fittall lobbed home Canterbury’s winner.
