The life of comedian, panto stalwart and charity fundraiser Dave Lee will be celebrated in a special service at Canterbury Cathedral, his family has announced.

It will take place at 2pm on January 30 and is expected to be attended by stars of screen and stage.

The city council has also revealed that a ceremony planned the following evening in which Dave was due to be made a Freeman of the City will still go ahead, making it the first time the honour has been granted posthumously.

Tributes have flooded in since the 64-year-old from Canterbury died from pancreatic cancer on Monday afternoon.

His two sons and daughter, Darren, Justin and Debbie say they have been overwhelmed by the messages of sympathy and praise for their father.

Darren, 44, added: "We are very proud of all his achievements but most of all to us he was a wonderful dad."
