Faversham Town are facing a challenge to keep hold of their young keeper Rob French.

Former Lilywhites boss Justin Luchford is keen on taking him to Whitstable and an offer is on the table.

A compensation fee must be agreed before any deal is completed as French has previously been on contract at Faversham and is under 23.

Faversham boss Ray Turner (pictured) is keen to keep hold of 21-year-old French but knows money talks.

He said: "A bid has come in from Whitstable and there is a fee to negotiate. I rate him highly and we go back a long way but if an agreement is made, then it will be up to the goalkeeper to make his decision."

French (pictured) has been coached by Turner since the age of six.

"It would leave a void for us and I do rate him as he is one of the best young keepers around," Turner added.

French was once on the books at Whitstable as a teenager and he would be treading a well-worn path to the Belmont Ground.

Faversham goalkeeper coach Scott Davenport has already made the switch along with the club’s reserve team manager Bill Friend.
