Phillip Schofield has shared a picture of a cuddly teddy bear - made by a Kent company - sitting in his dressing room.

The presenter posted the image on Instagram of the toy from Canterbury Bears, based in Littlebourne.

All profits from sales of the Thank You Bear will be sent directly to NHS Charities Together to help in the fight against the coronavirus.

The TV star wrote on the post: "Thank you for my bear! Family run British business, all proceeds to the NHS @canterburybears."

Canterbury Bears was founded in 1979 by painter John Blackburn and it is now run by his daughter Kerstin and her mother Maude.

The company was originally created in response to a friend searching for a traditional bear for his grandmother, and he commissioned John to design and make one.

In 2016, John Blackburn was awarded an MBE for services to manufacturing and export in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list.

Managing director Kerstin Blackburn said: "We were thrilled that Philip Schofield loved his 'thank you' bear and chose to share it on social media.

"It really is a gorgeous little bear and it clearly caught his imagination.

"An endorsement from a national treasure like him is wonderful.

"We have been getting amazing feedback from people about our little bear and as a local Kentish/British manufacturer that is very heart warming."
