Woman assaulted in handbag grab at Herne Bay Road, Sturry, bus stop

A woman has been assaulted in an attempted robbery carried out by two boys at a bus stop.

The incident happened in Herne Bay Road, Sturry, near its junction with Sweechgate at about 11.10am on Tuesday.

The victim, aged in her 50s, was reportedly assaulted by one of two boys while the other tried to grab her handbag.

She suffered minor injuries during the ordeal.

The suspects are described as being white, aged 14 to 15, both with short brown hair.

One was wearing a grey jacket, blue jeans and trainers, the other was wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans and trainers.

It is thought the boys may have thrown a tree branch and a bottle into Herne Bay Road shortly before the incident.

Police are appealing for anyone who drove along the road around the time of the incident, and may have filmed the suspects on their dashcam to examine their footage.

Any other witnesses, including anyone with CCTV footage, are also asked to contact police on 01843 222289 quoting reference 46/8228/20.
