A woman has been seen begging Insulate Britain campaigners to move off the road so she can reach her elderly mum in hospital.

The tearful driver was filmed frantically pleading with the protesters, who have blocked the entrance to the Blackwall Tunnel - asking them to move so she can reach her poorly mother in Canterbury.

Insulate Britain said about 50 people had blocked four sites around the capital this morning during the fourth week of its campaign to urge the government to insulate 29 million homes by 2030.

This included at the Blackwall Tunnel in London where activists glued their hands to the Tarmac, causing huge tailbacks during the morning rush-hour.

LBC captured the moment a woman stuck in the traffic tearfully clashed with protesters as they blocked her journey to see her mother, who she said was en route to hospital.

She can be heard saying: "She's in the ambulance - she's going to hospital in Canterbury.

"I need to go to the hospital. Please move your cars - please.

"This isn't OK. This is not OK. How can you be so selfish?

"My mum is 81 and she's going to hospital."

Protesters wearing high-vis jackets appeared to be speaking quietly with the woman but showed no sign of letting her through.

The woman is eventually seen walking away in frustration, saying: "Unbelievable - on your conscience let this be."
