A woman was harassed on a bus and followed home by a tattooed drunk and aggressive man.

Police hope witnesses on the busy number 8 service between Canterbury and Broadstairs can help trace the man who subjected a 19-year-old woman to physical and verbal abuse.

The man, aged between 50 and 60, was a passenger on the 6.15pm bus from Canterbury on Thursday, January 20. He had distinctive tattoos on his hands, the word HATE on his left hand and the figure of a female devil on his right.

He is 6ft 2ins, slim with brown, short hair. He was wearing black trousers, light blue jacket and brown, leather boots.

The incident began when a passenger got off at Sturry. The man came and sat next to the 19-year-old, who was on her way home from work.

He put his arm around her back and then hugged her and kissed her cheek before shifting his attention to others. She went to the upper deck to get away from him.

Thinking he had already left, she got off the bus at the Broadway in Broadstairs. She walked home, but ran the last stretch as she realised the man appeared to be following her. He stood outside her home for a few minutes before disappearing.

Anyone who can identify the man should contact Det Con Ray Butterwick on 01843 222208.
