Woman hurt in alleged assault in St Peter's Street, Canterbury

A woman in her 20s suffered a head injury after she was reportedly attacked in the city centre.

She was treated for a cut in hospital after the alleged assault in St Peter's Street, Canterbury, at 4pm yesterday.

A 28-year-old man from Whitstable was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and possessing a class B drug.

He has since been released pending further enquiries.

The suspect and victim are not thought to know each other.
