CLEWLOW: "Six of the 11 goals we’ve conceded this season have been against the bottom two clubs"

MEL CLEWLOW admits she will be looking for a big improvement when Canterbury Ladies entertain Bowdon Hightown at Polo Farm, on Saturday, starting at noon.

The Premier Division leaders produced their worst display of the season in last weekend’s 3-3 draw away to struggling Old Loughtonians and Clewlow says they will have to be far sharper against Hightown.

The skipper explained: "We were all very disappointed after the Loughts game and I was as mad as anyone. Six of the 11 goals we’ve conceded this season have been against the bottom two clubs."

Canterbury remain the only unbeaten side in the top flight, but their lead over Leicester, who they face at home on December 3 is down to just two points.

For the Hightown game they hope to have Anna Bennett and Susannah Towsend back. Former international Bennett was ruled out of the Loughts game after suffering delayed concussion from the previous weekend, while Townsend was on an England-under 18 training camp.
