Joe Denly has been ruled out of England's one-day international series against Ireland after he suffered back spasms in training.

The 34-year-old Kent batsman missed England's first match of their series against Ireland at the Ageas Bowl on Thursday after picking up the injury the day before, with county team-mate Sam Billings taking his place as he struck a highest one-day international score and his third half-century in England's six-wicket win.

Canterbury-born Denly has been replaced in the 14-man England ODI squad by Lancashire's Liam Livingstone.

Livingstone has represented England in two international T20s and will make his ODI debut if he is selected in one of the last two matches of the series with Ireland.

England will meet Ireland at the Ageas Bowl again on Saturday and then will complete the three-match series at the same venue on Tuesday afternoon.
