Hockey club's double away-day challenge

MEL CLEWLOW: "We always get good support for big matches..."

CANTERBURY Hockey Club are looking forward to a big day out in Doncaster next month.

The men were due to play a league game there on March 16, and Monday’s EHA Cup semi-final draw paired the women’s teams against each other on the same day.

With the South Yorkshire club having only one pitch, it’s likely one game will played at midday with the other starting at 2pm.

It means both teams will be cheering each other on with the women appearing in the last four of the national competition for the first time in the club’s history.

Skipper Mel Clewlow said: “We always get good support for big matches, and I am sure the club will be making arrangements to get as many people up there to watch as they can.”
