Kent members will have their names featured on the team’s Championship shirt next summer.

The county want to recognise those members and life members who supported the club during the pandemic-impacted season.

The ‘Invicta Shirt’ - as it will be known - will honour those who accepted that their subscription fees in 2020 be retained by the club to underpin Kent Cricket’s survival plans.

Members have to opt-in by Monday, November 16 to ensure their name is included in the shirt. The form is available via a short online form.

Not only did members back the county through their annual subscriptions but Kent also received £42,000 of unsolicited additional donations over the summer.

Kent captain Sam Billings said: “As a playing squad we have always drawn from the support of our members and we are honoured to have the opportunity to wear the names of those that helped secure the future of our club.

“The support we have received in the face of the Covid-19 challenges shows what ‘Together, we are Kent’ really means and we are all looking forward to putting in big performances wearing this unique piece of Kent cricket history next season.”

Next season sees the return of the County Championship, with Kent drawn in Group 3 alongside Yorkshire, Lancashire, Sussex and Northamptonshire. The top two teams will go into Division 1 for the chance to be crowned County champions and to contest the Bob Willis Trophy.

The design of the shirt will be similar to that used for the Bob Willis Trophy in the summer where the names of all 219 capped players in Kent’s history featured in small lettering.
