Kent need fluent performance against Scorpions

GRAHAM FORD: may well look at shuffling the pack

KENT will hope to return to winning ways at Canterbury on Sunday where they entertain NatWest Pro40 League strugglers Derbyshire Scorpions.

It will be the 33rd league meeting between the sides, and though clashes against the Scorpions have been few and far between in recent years, both the history and form books appear to point to an 18th win for Kent.

Though new Scorpions' skipper, the former Warwickshire all-rounder Graeme Welch has inspired a revival in the East Midlands' County's championship form, their one-day league record has so far been abysmal and Derbyshire are without a win from four starts.

Having spent 11 days on the road Kent, while happy to be back in front of their own fans, will be aiming for a more fluent performance to put their failed run-chase at Worcestershire last weekend well and truly behind them.

After yet another batting collapse at New Road, director of coaching Graham Ford may well look at shuffling the pack by introducing former England Under-19 bat Joe Denly.

In good form for the county second string, Denly, from Whitstable, may be called in to bolster a middle order low on confidence in the one-day game.

Kent from: Dexter, Stevens, van Jaarsveld, Key, Denly, Walker, Bravo, Henderson, Jones, Patel, Tredwell, Cook, Khan.
