Canterbury Ladies can seal top-spot in Investec National Premier Division with victory at Clifton this weekend.

On Saturday the city club’s scheduled opponents Olton & West Warwicks conceded their game at Polo Farm, handing Jen Wilson’s side a 3-0 walkover win and three points which kept them a point clear of second-placed Reading with one game to play.

While Canterbury visit the Bristol side in a potential rehearsal for the championship play-off semi-finals, the Berkshire side host sixth-placed Bowdown Hightown, with all games starting at the same time, 2pm.

Should the city club better Reading’s result they will finish top of the table for the first time.

Canterbury’s men produced a stunning comeback to win at Sheffield Hallam despite having nothing to play for but pride in NOW: Pensions National Premier Division on Sunday.

The relegation-battling hosts scored twice in as many minutes to lead 2-0 through Liam Ansell and Tom Sorsby though Harry Roberts pulled one back before the break.

Ben Allberry fired in a brace on 45 and 49 minutes to turn the game around, and though Gavin Byers struck an equaliser moments later, Mickel Pierre stole the points with a last-minute winner.

The win took Canterbury fifth, ahead of Wimbledon on goal-difference, after the Londoners’ 3-2 defeat to Hampstead & Westminster.
