National recognition for Polo Farm starlets

Susannah Townsend is one of three players picked for national squads

THREE Canterbury Junior Hockey Club youngsters have been selected for England squad training.

Susannah Townsend has been picked for England Under-18 girls while Harry Bloice is in the England Under-16 squad and Simon Hare in the Under-18s.

Townsend joined Canterbury last season, and plays up front. She is a pupil at Sutton Valence School and has already represented England Under-16s.

Bloice has has been a Canterbury member for four years and plays either in midfield or as a forward. A pupil at Kent College he has some outstanding stick skills.

Hare, a Canterbury member for six years, has also represented England at Under-16 level making the centre midfield position very much his own. A regular member of Canterbury’s first XI, he also attends Kent College.

Geordie Hayward, deputy chairman of Canterbury Junior Club, said: "We are delighted that Susannah, Harry and Simon have been selected to represent their country.

"Once again it proves Canterbury have the right coaching facilities in place for children of all ages to progress to whatever level they aspire to."
