A former Kent loan spinner has announced his retirement from the game.

Off-spinner Ollie Rayner was released by Middlesex at the end of last season and has decided to call it a day.

Rayner - who played a key role in helping Middlesex win the Division One title in 2016 - joined Kent in June last year to boost the county's spin bowling options.

He went out on loan for the remainder of last season, playing the second half of the season at Kent.

Posting on twitter, he said: “It was tough admitting that my career has come to an end.

“I’ve been very lucky, had times that I will cherish and met some truly wonderful people, too many to single out!”

Rayner retires at the age of 34 after taking 313 first-class wickets.
